A Redding man was found to be in possession of a wide variety of illegal substances (drugs) and three firearms; two of which were loaded.
Officers with the Redding Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Dana Drive and Churn Creek Road, regarding a vehicle in the roadway. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly slumped over the steering wheel and not responsive.
When officers arrived, they found Colin Adams, age 26 of Redding behind the wheel of a vehicle in the roadway. Adams was not responding and had a loaded firearm in his lap and a shotgun on the passenger seat. Officers were able to safely disarm Adams before he awoke.
Adams was detained pending a possible driving under the influence investigation and found to be on Post Release Community Service (PRCS) with a prior felony conviction, preventing him from owning or possessing firearms. During a thorough search of the vehicle, an additional loaded firearm was located, along with 3.6 grams of methamphetamine, 12.9 grams of heroin, a bottle containing 450 Clonazepam pills, 43 Xanax pills packaged for sales, and $605 in cash.
Adams was booked into the Shasta County Jail for felon in possession of firearms/ammunition and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
