On October 23rd, 2018 at approximately 0135 hours, Redding Police Officers responded to the Neighborhood Church located at 777 Loma Vista Dr. for a reported burglary alarm. The alarm company received a video clip of the suspected burglar which showed him wearing a mask over his face.
Officers searched and quickly located the subject who was later identified as Tyler Edward Coonan, 22 years of Redding. As soon as Coonan spotted Officers, he fled on foot. K-9 Otto was deployed to assist in the apprehension of Coonan. Otto successfully captured and halted Coonan from fleeing so Officers could take him into custody.
Coonan had removed one hinge from a large gate, and then broke into a trailer and a storage shed. Coonan was treated at a local hospital for a minor injury. He was then transported and booked into County Jail for possession of burglary tools, burglary, resisting arrest, and prowling.
