Annual Lighted Christmas Parade
The 37th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade will be held in the downtown area of Redding on Saturday, December 1, 2018. The parade will begin at 6:00 pm and is expected to conclude at 9:00 pm. In preparation for the event, road closures for the parade route will begin at 5:00 pm. All road closures will re-open at the conclusion of the event.
Staging Area Closures: Staging areas for the parade floats will include the following streets. These streets will be closed at 4:00 pm and re-open at the conclusion of the parade:
- Oregon St. between Yuba St. and Shasta St.
- Butte St. between Court St. and Oregon St.
- Tehama St. between Court St. and California St.
- California St. between Shasta St. and Tehama St.
Parade Route: The Parade will begin at California St. and Tehama St. The parade will travel south on California St., turn east on Sacramento St. , north on Pine St. and east on Yuba St. The parade will end at East St.
NO PARKING IS ALLOWED ON THE PARADE ROUTE. THE ROUTE WILL BE POSTED AS A NO PARKING ZONE SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR TO THE PARADE. ANY VEHICLES PARKED IN THE PARADE ROUTE MUST BE MOVED PRIOR TO 3:00PM ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 1st, 2018 OR THEY WILL BE TOWED.
Parade Route Detours: Motorist traveling into the downtown area will be detoured onto:
- East St.,
- Court St.,
- South St.,
- and Shasta St.
Temporary Stop Signs: Temporary stop signs will be placed at the intersection of Yuba St. and East St. This will make the intersection a four way stop.
Parking: The downtown mall parking structure will have limited parking and will be closed once it is full. Parking will not be allowed on the parade route or in the staging areas. As a reminder RV’s will not fit in the lower level of the parking structure.
Pick-up location: Parade participants can be picked up in the Cal-Trans parking lot located at Yuba St/Liberty St.
Alcohol Possession: As a reminder the Redding Municipal Code prohibits open Alcoholic Beverage containers in public, which includes the parade route.
