CASE#19R018800
On March 25, 2019 officers from the Redding Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious male in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 540 South St. in the City of Redding. The citizen reported the male appeared to be carrying a rifle. The citizen heard a motorcycle leaving the complex shortly after seeing the suspicious male.
Shortly after the initial citizen report, the victim called and reported his Harley Davidson motorcycle had been stolen. Officers quickly spotted the stolen motorcycle a short distance away traveling south on Park Marina Ave. Officers attempted to stop the motorcycle but the suspect refused to stop and led officers on a short vehicle pursuit.
The suspect abandoned the motorcycle in the 2700 block of Wyndham Ln. and fled on foot. Redding Police set up a perimeter and began an extensive search of the area with the assistance of a police K9 and a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol.
A resident on Wyndham Ln. called and reported hearing a subject run through her back yard shortly after officers arrived. The CHP helicopter directed officers to a possible suspect location in a nearby back yard. Redding Police K9 Njord alerted on a trash can in the back yard of the house. The suspect surrendered to officers without incident. He was identified as 25 year old Cory Ray Arguello from Oroville Ca. Arguello was arrested for stealing the motorcycle and evading officers. Arguello also had warrants for his arrest for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. He was booked at the Shasta County Jail.
