Suspected Marijuana Thieves Captured in North Redding

On September 3, 2019 at 9:00 p.m., Officers of the Redding Police Department responded to a report of a robbery taking place in the parking lot of the Power Mart located at 1495 Lake Boulevard in Northwest Redding.  The victim, Adam Millner, 30 years of age of Oak Run, CA called 9-1-1 from inside the Power Mart and reported he had been robbed in the parking lot of the location.  Millner was requesting medical attention after being knocked from the suspect’s vehicle when he attempted to retrieve his stolen property.  Millner suffered injuries to his feet and abrasions to his arms and hands.

Millner told the call taker two males had taken his 15 pounds of marijuana by force and was requesting assistance.  Officers arrived and quickly obtained video evidence of the incident and the suspects’ vehicle description.  The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling eastbound on Lake Boulevard with one of the male suspects while an additional male suspect fled on foot from the location.

Officer Sterrett located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald’s on Lake Boulevard.  One male suspect, Deangelo Patton, 27 years of age of Jonesboro, Arkansas was in the driver’s seat of the suspect vehicle along with two female witnesses.  The stolen marijuana and a loaded firearm were located inside the suspect vehicle.  The victim’s stolen cellular phone was later located near the scene of the original robbery.

Officers obtained additional information regarding the other male suspect.  Officer Ellis located Brandon Baker, 29 years of Jonesboro, Arkansas in the 800 block of July Way.  He was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation revealed Millner offered to sell marijuana to Baker and Patton.  Baker and Patton chose to steal the marijuana and Millner’s cellular phone instead.  Millner attempted to stop the theft by climbing into the suspect vehicle but was pushed from it as it drove away.

Baker and Patton had initially driven to California to obtain marijuana that they intended to sell upon their return to Arkansas.  They ran out of money and then looked for an opportunity to steal marijuana instead.

Baker and Patton were booked for robbery, conspiracy, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.  The case has been submitted to the district attorney for additional charges. Deangelo Patton is pictured first followed by Brandon Baker.
