Argument leads to a stabbing

On November 17, 2019 at 9:15 hours, Officers were dispatched to the Riverside Mobile Home Park at 901 North Market Street for a stabbing that had just occurred. Officers arrived quickly and detained Stewart Kingsley, 58 years of Bullhead City, Arizona. Officers also located Jerry Scott, 57 years of Redding, and discovered he had a laceration to his left hand. Scott was later transported to a local hospital for treatment.


Officers learned Kingsley went to a trailer to confront Scott over money owed. The two briefly argued before Kingsley produced a knife and stabbed Scott in the hand. Witnesses intervened and took the knife from Kingsley and detained him until officers arrived.


Kingsley is a convicted felon and was in possession of police-style baton and pepper spray when he confronted Scott. Possession of these items is prohibited under California law. Kingsley was booked into the Shasta County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of pepper spray by a convicted felon, and possession of a deadly weapon.


Scott’s injuries were not life threatening and he was later released from the hospital.
