On November 18, 2019 at approximately 0327 hours, a Redding Police Department Officer attempted to make a traffic enforcement stop on a motorcycle traveling on eastbound Highway 44 near Victor Avenue for a vehicle code violation. The rider continued and took the Shasta View Drive exit, ran a stop light, and continued onto Goodwater Ave. The officer initiated a pursuit of the motorcycle.

The pursuit continued onto eastbound Hartnell Ave., then northbound on Old Oregon Trail to Old Alturas Road where the rider, later identified as Troy Prine, 54 years old of Redding, abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot. The officer quickly caught up to Prine who did not obey commands, actively resisted, and was ultimately taken into custody.

Prine was transported to a local hospital where he was treated prior to being booked at the Shasta County Jail. Prine was booked for felony evading as well as resisting, delaying or obstructing a police officer.
