Probationer Leads Officers on Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

On November 23, 2019 at 1:08 am, Officers Brett Leonard and Jeremiah Kasinger spotted a 2006 Ford Mustang leaving Win River Casino that had been reported stolen on November 20, 2019.

The vehicle fled southbound on Canyon Rd. when officers attempted to stop it. A pursuit was initiated which continued on Canyon Rd to southbound Happy Valley Rd. The pursuit reached speeds of 95 miles per hour and lasted approximately 3 minutes.

The driver, Cecil Taylor, 31 years of Fall River Mills, finally yielded on Happy Valley Rd. near Treat Ln. He and a female passenger were taken into custody without incident. The female was determined to not be involved or have knowledge of the vehicle theft and was released.

Taylor was the suspect in the original theft of the vehicle and is currently on probation for carjacking. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, violation of probation and outstanding warrants.
