Suspect Arrested after Shooting His Friend

On December 21, 2019 at 12:57 AM, Officers from the Redding Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim inside a room at the Motel 6 on Hilltop Dr.  When Officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was provided medical aid and transported to the hospital by ambulance.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital.  The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

An investigation of the incident revealed the victim was in a motel room with two other males. All three subject were friends and were staying at the motel together. One of the subjects, identified as Gregory Bradford, 30 years of Hollister, CA., was manipulating a loaded firearm and pulled the trigger in a negligent manner. The victim was struck by the bullet.

Evidence obtained during the investigation revealed Bradford discharged the firearm in a grossly negligent manner causing death. Bradford was arrested for the crime and booked at the Shasta County Jail. A photo of Bradford is attached to this news release for reference.
