On December 14, 2019 at approximately 3:50 am, Chan Lee, 57 years old of Sacramento, was at the Circle K in Westwood Village putting air in a tire of a U-Haul trailer he was towing. An unknown male subject got into the victims truck and drove off. Sean Bryant, 53 years of Placerville, was putting gas in his truck when he witnessed the events and followed the victim’s truck.
The suspect went southbound on SR273 being followed by Bryant. As they approached Clear Creek Road Bryant was run off the road by associates of the suspect. Bryant crossed the northbound lanes of SR273, rolled over and struck a telecommunications pole. Bryant was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The vehicle that ran Bryant off the road also lost control and struck a chain link fence on the west side of SR273 and became disabled. The occupants fled southwest towards Clear Creek Rd.
The suspect in Lee’s truck continued south on SR273. The truck and all suspects are outstanding. Lee’s truck is described as a 2000 Toyota Tundra, green in color with a camper shell and lumber rack. The license plate number is 8X67039 (California). It was towing a U-Haul box trailer. The victim was not able to provide a description of the suspect.
The suspect vehicle was taken as evidence and will be processed for evidence.
Neither Lee nor Bryant were injured during this incident.
