Suspect in Red Lion Shooting Identified

On Wednesday, January 8th, 2020, at approximately 6:00 P.M., Redding Police Officers responded to reports of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound at the Red Lion Inn and Suites, located at 536 East Cypress Avenue.  The investigation revealed a marijuana related robbery occurred which resulted in the shooting of 39 year old Udom Chao of Redding.  Chao suffered a single gunshot wound and is expected to survive.

The suspect in the shooting was determined to be 38 year old Terrell Kurt Myers of Fresno.  He fled the scene in blue or gray 2011 Ford Fusion bearing California plate 7UHH373.  The vehicle was located abandoned on Cedars Road and El Reno lane in Redding on the evening of January 9th, 2020, however, Myers is still outstanding.  Myers is described as an African American male, 38 years old, 5’7″ tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.  The pictures attached to this press release were obtained from video surveillance of Myers at the Red Lion Inn and Suites prior to and during the incident.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Myers charging him with assault with a firearm, shooting into an inhabited dwelling, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and robbery.
