Suspected Mail Thieves Arrested in Old Shasta

On February 26, 2020 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Officers of the Redding Police Department, Agents from the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF), and Shasta County Probation Officers executed a search warrant in the 15000 block of McComb Hill Road in Old Shasta, CA.  The search warrant was obtained after learning the residents of this trailer have been suspected of stealing mail and checks throughout Shasta County and the city of Redding.

 

Hunter Smith, 32 years of age of Shasta, Jordan Trujillo, 30 years of Shasta, Rafial Simon, 36 years of Redding, and his wife Charisse Simon, 37 years of Redding, were located inside the trailer.  All were detained while the warrant and subsequent search was conducted.

 

Officers located heroin, methamphetamine, stolen property to include checks and car titles, drug paraphernalia, and items consistent with the sale of controlled substances were located throughout the home.  The evidence located was consistent with theft of mail and the forgery investigations that are ongoing.

 

Upon completion of the search warrant service, Smith, Trujillo, and Rafial Simon were all transported to the Shasta County Jail.  They were booked for possession of stolen property, possession of heroin for sales, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a narcotic residence.  Charisse Simon was later released due to a medical condition and charges are being sought through the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office regarding her actions.  The US Postal Inspector has been included in this investigation as well and additional charges could be filed.
