On March 8th, 2020 at 8:51 am, Redding Police Officers Kyle Corrigan, Travis Williams and his canine partner, Otto, were dispatched to a report of a male subject running in the road on South Market Street at Angelo Street. When Officer Williams arrived in the area he saw Patrick Wilson, 25 years old of Redding, running around swinging a metal object similar to an expandable police baton. Wilson saw Officer Williams and attempted to flee, but was quickly corralled in an open field by both Officers.
Wilson continued to run around the police cars swinging the baton and appeared to be under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant. There were several bystanders walking in the area. Wilson continued to fail to comply with officer’s directions and they used pepper spray, a taser device and canine Otto to take Wilson into custody.
Wilson was treated at a local hospital prior to being booked at the Shasta County Jail for resisting arrest using violence, brandishing a deadly weapon at police officers and possession of a deadly weapon.
