On March 11th, 2020 at approximately 9:26 P.M., a Redding Police Officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. As soon as the vehicle stopped, the driver fled on foot. The driver was later identified as Oney Rhoades, 50 years of Redding. The Officer took chase and was able to catch Rhoades and take him into custody. Rhoads was found to be in possession of 15.8 grams of methamphetamine and $120 cash. He was later booked into the Shasta County Jail for possession of drugs for sale, transporting drugs for sale, resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant.
Rhoades has a lengthy criminal history and he is currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) following a 2015 domestic violence conviction in which he was sentenced to 5 years in Prison. PRCS is a form of supervision in which an offender is released from a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institution to the jurisdiction of a county agency (Probation Department), pursuant to the Post Release Community Supervision Act of 2011.
