Juvenile rescued after falling down Hilltop Bluffs

On June 14th, 2020 at 2:01 A.M., Officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the “Hilltop Bluffs” at the end of Palisades Avenue on the report of a teenage male that had fallen over the cliff. Upon arrival, Officers located several other juveniles who stated that the teenage male had fallen down the approximate 100 foot embankment after climbing over the fencing partition.

RPD Officers utilized an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to locate the juvenile, who had fallen to the bottom of the Bluffs, and was positioned precariously on the bank of the Sacramento River. Deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Boating Safety Unit ultimately responded for a rescue operation and the teenage male was safely recovered from the scene. The male juvenile did not sustain life threatening injuries as a result of the fall, and he was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The Redding Police Department would like to thank the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the Office of Emergency Services and the SCSO Boating Safety Unit for their assistance in the river rescue.
