On Saturday, August 29th, 2020, at 1:12 P.M., Redding Police Officers responded to the Empire Recovery Center, located at 1237 California Street, in regards to a male subject who appeared to be under the influence of drugs causing a disturbance. The male was unknown to the clients and employees of the recovery center.
Officers located Steven Robinson, 39 years of Crescent City, within the parking lot and attempted to deescalate the situation and gain his compliance. Robinson, who was agitated and appeared to be under the influence of drugs, refused to listen to officers and became violently combative when they attempted to arrest him. Officers were eventually able to subdue Robinson and take him into custody.
As a result of the incident, three Officers sustained minor injuries which did not require hospitalization. Robinson sustained minor injuries and was medically cleared at a local hospital prior to being booked at the Shasta County Jail.
During the investigation, Officers learned that Robinson trespassed on Empire Recovery Center property and destroyed the “No Trespassing” sign, attempted to force his way through the back door, assaulted one of the clients and challenged numerous other citizens to fight. Robinson was booked at the Shasta County Jail for resisting arrest with the use of force or violence, battery on peace officers, battery on a citizen and trespassing.
