Redding Police Search for Elderly Female

On August 7th, 2020 at approximately 12:00 P.M., Redding Police Officers responded to the 3000 block of Henderson Road in Redding regarding a missing elderly female.  Officers arrived and learned 80-year-old Grace Kern walked away from her residence on August 6th at approximately 10:00 A.M., and has not returned.  Kern suffers from confusion and other conditions that put her at risk.

Patrol officers canvassed the area surrounding Kern’s home and Henderson Open Space with the assistance of the Neighborhood Police Unit and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle team.  A CodeRED community notification was initiated to approximately 700 people within a radius of Kern’s residence.  Kern was not immediately located.

Kern is described as a white female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 110 pounds, with long gray hair and hazel eyes.  Kern was last seen walking towards Henderson Open Space, wearing a blue shirt and jeans, light blue shoes, and a black arm brace on her left wrist.  Kern does not have access to a vehicle.
