Redding Police Seize Methamphetamine and Cash During Stolen Vehicle Investigation

NEWS RELEASE

August 15th, 2020                11:30 P.M.

On Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at 8:59 P.M., Redding Police officers responded to a report of an occupied stolen vehicle parked at the SureStay Plus hotel at 2600 Larkspur Lane.  The vehicle’s registered owner, 28 year old Anthony McDonald of Everett, Washington, reported he located his stolen Lexus sedan in the parking lot and it was occupied by two unknown males.

Officers located and detained both male suspects after they exited the vehicle and were walking away from the location.  They were identified as 32 year old Bradly Willyard of Redding, and 29 year old Derrek Bauer of Redding.  Bauer stated that he purchased the vehicle from McDonald, but McDonald denied this.  The Lexus was released to McDonald and the stolen vehicle case is a still under investigation as it is potentially a civil matter.

The investigation led to the search of a hotel room Bauer was renting at the location.  Officers Tapal and Lobsinger located approximately 14 ounces of methamphetamine, two scales for weighing the methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and $926 cash.  Bauer was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sales, maintaining a hotel room where drugs are sold, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of metal knuckles and possession of a switchblade knife.  Bauer is also pending burglary charges out of the Shasta County Superior Court.

This was great work by our officers taking drugs and illegal weapons off of our streets.  Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department at 530-225-4200.
