Driver arrested for DUI crash causing major injuries to passenger

On October 22nd, 2020 at approximately 12:16 A.M., Redding Police Officers responded to a reported single vehicle collision on North Bechelli Lane near Hemsted Drive. On arrival, Officers discovered one of the passengers, identified as Rachelle Bigger 24 years of Anderson sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition.  A second passenger, identified as Miya Banuelos 18 years of Redding sustained unknown injuries. She was also transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver pictured below was identified as Michael White, 20 years of Redding. He was evaluated and determined to be driving under the influence and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Shasta County jail.

 

Every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 50 minutes. The Redding Police Department would like to remind our citizens that drinking and driving is never safe. So if you drink, don’t drive!
