October 12th, 2020              6:30 A.M.

Redding Police Dept. Case 20R067010

On Monday, October 12th, 2020, at 5:09 A.M., Redding Police responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress in the 2000 block of Glengary Drive.  The female resident woke up to find her front door open and her vehicle running in the driveway.  She responded to her vehicle and found a male inside attempting to drive it away from the residence.  She also noticed the male had possession of her son’s wallet.  The Victim resident was able to get her keys and son’s wallet back from the male before he fled from her residence on foot.  The female described the suspect as an Asian male adult wearing a pink head wrap, blue skirt and in possession of a purse.

Redding Police quickly arrived in the south Redding neighborhood and a subject matching the suspect description was located one block north of the Victim residence on Southgate Dr.  The subject, later identified as 18 year old Jadyn Edwards of Portland, Oregon, immediately became combative with the Officers and was taken into custody following a brief struggle.  Edwards was transported back to the residence of occurrence and was positively identified as the suspect by the Victim female resident.

As a result of this morning’s incident, Edwards was booked at the Shasta County Jail for residential burglary, attempted vehicle theft, prowling, resisting and obstructing peace officers and possession of methamphetamine.

While reviewing Edwards prior criminal history, officers found that on October 10th, 2020, at 8:03 A.M., a resident from the 2000 block of Roxford Court reported an unknown suspect entered her residence, took her vehicle keys and stole her 2014 BMW 750 from the driveway.  The Roxford Court residence is one block north of the Glengary Drive residence from this morning’s incident.  Later that day, at 2:00 P.M., a Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputy located the stolen BMW and arrested the driver who was identified as Jadyn Edwards.  Edwards was booked into the Siskiyou County Jail, but was released later that evening at 7:30 P.M.

Jadyn Edwards has two non-extraditable warrants out of Portland, Oregon, one of which is for assaulting a peace officer.  He has also been flagged as “violent toward law enforcement” by the Portland Police Department.

As a nighttime crime prevention tip, the Redding Police Department would like to remind residents to ensure they remove valuables from their vehicles, lock all vehicle and residential doors, and utilize exterior lighting and alarms to deter thieves.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department at 530-225-4200.
